Benefits of Tumescent Liposuction

Less bruising and swelling is common with tumescent liposuction compared to other techniques because the diluted tumescent solution allows for easier fat removal. A combination of lidocaine and epinephrine temporarily shrinks capillaries and reduces bleeding during your procedure. This process results in less bruising and swelling.

Maintains skin firmness by creating small “tunnels” through the fat and leaving the skin connected to the underlying muscles. The fibrous strands that connect skin and muscle contract during your recovery, pulling your skin. This ensures there are no loose folds of skin following your liposuction treatment. Your skin will retain a soft and normal look after your procedure.

Permanent body contouring is achieved using liposuction. The fat cells removed do not grow back; your newly enhanced silhouette will be long lasting. It is important to maintain your weight, as fluctuations can alter the quality of your results. However, additional fat accumulation tends to be distributed more proportionately throughout the body.

Common Areas Treated

  • Abdomen
  • Hips & Thighs
  • Arms & Legs
  • Back & Chest

Pre-Treatment Tips

You should be within 50 pounds of your goal weight before undergoing surgery and should have maintained a stable weight for six months. Don’t shave your treatment area prior to surgery because the open pores can leave you prone to infection. You should come in for your treatment with realistic expectations and understand that you cannot achieve “perfection” through liposuction.

Post-Treatment Tips

There is less downtime following tumescent liposuction because it is performed with a local anesthetic. You will wear a compression garment and should be back to your full activities within three weeks. Liposuction doesn’t improve the appearance of cellulite, but you will find that your appearance is fitter and leaner after the procedure.
