Skin Blading, also referred to as microplaning or dermaplaining, is a great exfoliation technique for the skin. Skin Blading utilizes a sterile surgical blade that is carefully stroked over the skin in even motions similar to shaving. Blading the skin painlessly removes dry, dead surface skin to reveal new, healthy skin cells. Unwanted peach fuzz may also be eliminated during treatment. As the blade is drawn across the skin, the vellus hairs, or “peach fuzz” collect together like a fine cotton ball. Many patients are often surprised to see how many of these tiny hairs are present on the face.
You may be thinking, “won’t the hairs on my face grow back thicker?” The answer is no. Skin Blading only removes the hair above the surface of the skin and does not alter the structure of the root of the hair or how it grows in.
In our previous post we coupled Skin Blading with our MiXto Fractionated CO2 laser. Skin Blading can actually be coupled with several other treatments, including a chemical peel, microdermabrasion or a stand alone procedure.
